Celebrate a new baby girl with a handmade card

After all the baby boy cards I've been making lately, I thought that it was time to make a baby girl card.

This one uses some patterned paper that I picked up from Lincraft as well as some dies that I cut on the Big Shot using a die-namic and stamp set from "My favorite Things" called "Notched Tag." This set also includes the stamps that I used for this card (as well as lots of other stamps and dies too!)

A baby boy card

This card to celebrate the arrival of a baby boy uses two of my favorite things. First, I love this patterned paper that I found in Lincraft of some circus animals. I've used it for quite a lot of cards, and fortunately bought quite a few sheets of it at the time as I think that it is so nice.

The second product that I like is the die-namic and stamp set that I used to make both the tag, the onesie and the stamp. They come from "My Favorite Things" (MFT) in a set called "Notched Tag".

I finished the card off with some kitchen string, some plain blue cardstock and some little sparkly blue and silver stars and circles to add a bit of "bling".

A beautiful day

Here is a card I made using some paper from Kaisercraft's "Fine and Sunny" as the two patterned papers found in the 6.5" by 6.5" paper pad. The two flowers also come from Kaisercraft.

The  sentiment was taken from My favorite things "Framed Greeting" Die-namic stamp set. The beauty of this set is that it contains both the die that can be used in the Big Shot Sizzex machine, and then the coordinating stamp.

Finally, the card was finished with some plain green backing paper, some brown ribbon and a couple of pearls in the bottom right corner.

Baby boy card

To celebrate the arrival of a baby boy, here is a card I made using the "notched tag" stamp and die set from MFT. The onesies and stars were cut using the die set on my big shot, and the sentiment "baby boy" was from the matching stamp set. The card was finished off with some baby blue and white striped ribbon and two pearls were attached to the centre of the stars.

Little birdies on a wire

Here is another card I made using the notched tag MFT die set. This time I cut out 6 little birds from some different Kaisercraft paper. I ruled two lines on the card and stamped the bird legs/feet onto the wires, and then stuck the birds on with pop dots. The stamp for the legs and also the sentiment "so tweet", come with the die set. It is a great stamp/die set!

Get well soon!

This card was made using my new die/stamp set from MFT, "Umbrella." The umbrella was cut using this die on my Big Shot machine, and the sentiment and rain drops were stamped using the matching stamp set.

Baby girl card

Here is a card that I made to celebrate the arrival of a baby girl. I used some Sizzex dies from MFT to cut out the tags, heart and onesie. The stamp set also came with the die set.

Here is another baby girl gift card that I made using some Fiskars stamps and then coloured in.

"It's a girl" gift card

After making two cards for baby boys, here is a card for a baby girl. It is smaller in size and is very pink with some Christina Re pink diamond patterned paper with some hot pink paper backing it.

Using some Fiskar's stamps, I stamped the pram and sentiment in black straight onto the patterned paper. Then, I also stamped the pram onto some white card stock, coloured this with some copics, and then cut it out and placed it on the stamp using some pop dots to give it dimension.

"It's a boy" card

Here is another card I made using some fantastic animal patterned paper designed by Christina Re (called Animal Kingdom). I matted the animal paper on some co-ordinated baby blue paper to match the blue seal. I positioned some shiny gold card stock with some blue and white striped ribbon around in on the white card, then positioned the animal print and a stamped "It's a boy" sentiment on top.

Owl Birthday Card

This card was easy to make but visually looks quite impressive. To begin, I took a standard white square trifold card and cut off a triangle on the diagonal on the front square. I then stuck a square of lovely striped paper on the front of the second square, leaving a 5 mm border, so that a triangle of this could be seen once the card was folded.  On the front square, I then attached a triangle of contrasting green paper, again leaving a 5 mm border, and some ribbon along the bottom of the paper.

As a feature, I stamped three owls which I then coloured in copics before framing with some contrasting gold card and attaching to the front card. To finish, I attached a brad in the bottom left corner of the front square and in the top right corner of the middle square to bring the whole card together.

The recipient was very happy with the result!

Birthday card

I needed to make a small birthday card to go with a gift for my sister. I decided to use a stamp of a little bird that I got in New York by Laura Campbell from Rubber Soul, and also another stamp from inkainkado by Dawn Houser "A little bird told me it was your birthday."

I stamped both of these in black ink on white card stock and then used my copic markers to colour the bird. I mounted both stamped images onto shiny blue card and then placed these on a small white card. Before attaching, I placed some blue ribbon around the whole card under the bird image and tied this in a bow.

Embossed birthday cards

 Two friends recently had birthdays and so this gave me the opportunity to use my new "Happy Birthday" stamp from "Stamp-it" (2420D 2004) as well as my new clear mini stamps 99011 "Special bird."

I stamped Happy Birthday twice on white card stock using some Royal Blue versa colour ink, then quickly sprinkled some clear embossing powder on top. I also stamped the Bird and a little cat from a Kaisercraft stamp in the same blue ink and embossed these also. Since I don't have a heat gun, I carefully held the paper above the toaster until the image was suitable embossed. This seemed to work very well (and is much cheaper than buying a heat gun!)

I mounted the stamped images and text on some shiny blue card stock. I also mounted some lovely Japanese paper that I purchased from Bellbird Paperarts in Blackburn on the same shiny blue card stock.

Finally, I adhered the pieces to some wheat card.

Thank you cards for baby shower

I have just started making thank you cards for my baby shower which was two weeks ago.

I have quite a few to make so I wanted to make something that looked nice but would be easy to make. I also wanted to use the same colour scheme as the invitations that my sister made. They are gender neutral in a lovely shiny green colour paper that we found at Lincraft.

I used some plain white cards and then stuck some of the darker green paper that I had run through my Sizzex Bigshot with my Quickutz Vines embossing folder. I positioned some ribbon across the center of the card.

The "Thank You" stampe is from Stamp World (B130) that I recently purchased from Bellbird papercrafts in Blackburn. This was stamped in black ink on some plain white cardstock and then positioned on some pale green card before being placed in the center of the card.

This card is very pink! On top of the base white card, I stuck some shiny hot pink card stock, and then placed some white ribbon across the middle of the paper. The ribbon is see through in the middle but has solid edges. I then placed some pale pink card that I ran through my Sizzex Big Shot using the Vines embossing folder. This piece of paper covers a bit less than half of the hot pink card (perhaps a third). I put some Ranger liquid pearls (platinum colour) on the pale pink card before attaching it to the hot pink card.

I then stamped a bird from the Kaisercraft: Flora and Fauna range in Versa Colour Opera Pink (number 24). I attached this to the card using pop dots so that it would standout on the card.

I finished the card with a couple of small punches from the same pale pink card which I stuck in the left corner of the card.

Three very similar cards

For Christmas, I got a Sizzex Bigshot and recently purchased a new embossing folder. The folder is made by Quickutz and is an A2 folder called Vines. I cut one A2 sized piece in a navy blue shiny paper and ran it through the machine. I then cut it into thirds to use in each of the cards to the left.

I also used the Bigshot to cut the bottom left corner shape out of gold shiny paper. (A Sizzex brand small die).

I then stamped three different messages - "Happy Birthday", "Thank you" and "Get well" - on white card which I then stuck on the same gold paper  as the corner die.

To join together, I placed the blue embossed paper and some stripy patterned paper on some standard green cardstock. I then covered the join between the blue and stripy paper with some ribbon before sticking the message in place and positioning the corner die.

These cards could be used for either females or males given the colour combination and the design.

Red Dragonflies

For Christmas, my husband gave me the Sizzex Big Shot. It came with a few Sizzix Sizzlit. My husband picked the "Architectural Accents Set" (654470), and so with it, I made this card of red dragonflies.

The base of the card is plain white cardstock, while the embellishments and backing card were plain red cardstock. I then placed a piece of patterned card that I got from Bellbird paper arts (in Blackburn, Victoria). It complements the Kaisercraft "Flora and Fauna" stamp set well, so stamped and cut out two dragonflies, which I coloured in the my Copic marker R24. Finally, the dragonflies were "pop-dotted" onto the card so that they wouldn't become lost in the background.

Baby Boy Card

I made a small A6 sized greeting card to welcome a baby boy. The base card is some slightly shimmery card stock that I had left over. I then used some yellow and green card stock plus some shiny blue paper on top for the foreground colour.

The stamps all come from Fiskars "The stork has arrived" range. I stamped these on some white card and also onto the blue card. I coloured the stamps on the white card using my Copic sketch pens - Red R24, Yellow Y08 and Blue B23. I cut out the animals and pop-dotted them onto the stamped images on the blue card. The little cords on the trailers, the animals tails and the giraffs antlers are all only stamped onto the blue card.

Red Butterfly

Following the success of the blue butterfly card that I made earlier, I decided to make a red butterfly card.

I stamped the Kaisercraft butterfly from the Flora and Fauna range using some Umber coloured ink. I then coloured the butterfly in using my Red R24 Copic Sketch marker, before cutting the stamp out with a (roughly) 3mm border. I attached a rectangle of Kaisercraft patterned card stock from the Empire Collection called Ruby P454. I also attached some white ribbon along the center of the card, as well as some pre-Die Cut elements from the Kaisercraft Empire collection range to the corners of the panel. I then attached the butterfly to the card using some pop-dots.

Blue Butterfly

I made this card of a blue butterfly using my Butterfly stamp from Kaisercraft's Flora and Fauna Range. I then coloured the stamp in with my blue B23 Copic sketch pen before cutting the stamp out, leaving a (roughly) 3mm border. I then attached the stamp to some blue card and then cut the shape out, again leaving a (roughly) 3mm border.

I then made the background panel using the same blue card and Kaisercraft patterned paper from the Empire Collection called Scarlet P455. I attached some white ribbon along the center of the panel, and then stuck the panel to the card.

I completed the card by attaching the butterfly to the panel using pop dots.
